La Valle di Boi

IN THE HEART OF THE PYRENEES
The Boi valley has been classified by Unesco as being part of the World Heritage of Humanity, and is situated in the heart of the Pyrenees, on the road which connects the Aran valley with Lérida. The most interesting paintings being those of Tahull (Churches of Saint Climent and Santa Maria). While other fine ones are to be found in the church of Saint Joan di Boi. In these three cases, it consists of an extraordinary collection of Romanesque paintings, still visible on site in the form of excellent replicas.
The originals having been transferred to Barcelona museum in 1922, in order to salvage them from the greed of art merchants, who plundered the region at that time, these thefts unfortunately still continuing today.
